Air Quality in Kyiv: Didenko Explained What is Known About the Smog in the Capital.

Air quality in Kyiv is deteriorating due to increased concentration of suspended particles
According to meteorologist Nataliya Didenko, the cause of the smog is the smoldering peatlands in the Vyshgorod area, as well as the influence of the anticyclone Serkan. The anticyclone creates dry and windless weather, which contributes to the suspension of dust in the air and its deteriorating quality. Such phenomena are observed almost every year, but they are not catastrophic.
According to forecasts, the situation can be expected to improve on September 27-28, when the first rains are possible. At this Time, the meteorologist recommends Kyiv residents to drink more water, allergy sufferers to stay at home, and everyone to limit ventilation of the premises. She also emphasizes that closed windows do not completely protect against dust.
The situation may improve even before the forecasted date, so it's important to be cautious and follow health recommendations, urges the meteorologist.
Previously, Kyiv was recognized as the most polluted city in the world.
