Democratic Congressman Glenn Ivey urged Chuck Schumer to take more responsibility in negotiations in Washington or 'maybe he should step down.'

Ivey expressed his views on the Democratic leader in the Senate on Wednesday and expanded his demands of him, in light of the overall dissatisfaction with the party leadership's approach to countering President Donald Trump.

'If he can gather himself and stay on the right course regarding this vote, and we have a chance again, then we'll manage it. But if he does the same thing again when this bill comes up again in six months, we cannot afford that,' said Ivey.

He also expressed support for his party leader, New York Representative Hakeem Jeffries, who managed to convince everyone except one Democrat to vote against the Republican version of the budget. But at the same Time, Ivey stated that the split between the two party leaders is unacceptable and cannot happen again.

'We have a limited number of opportunities to counter the Trump administration and their actions,' continued Ivey. 'We cannot afford to miss this moment again.'
