Trump's expansionist plans resemble the strategies of Putin and Xi - Media.

U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed a desire to expand the country's territory and acquire some foreign lands. He announced his intention to obtain Greenland, reclaim the Panama Canal, and make Canada the 51st state of the USA. Furthermore, Trump even voiced claims over the Gaza Strip. Such territorial ambitions disturb even some of Trump's supporters. However, these ambitions can be understood if viewed as part of a global trend. In addition to Trump, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping also strive for territorial expansion and the greatness of their countries. Putin considers Ukraine not a fully-fledged country, but merely part of the 'Russian world.' Xi insists that Taiwan is a sacred territory of China. The lack of strategic justification for Trump's territorial ambitions indicates that they may be tied to his personal grandeur. The imperial ideas of Trump, Putin, and Xi have consequences for the international system and the domestic policies of their countries.
