France Convenes Conference to Resolve Lebanese Crisis.

France is convening a ministerial-level conference in Paris on October 24 to address Lebanon's issues related to the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
This was stated by France's Permanent Representative to the UN, Nicolas de Riviere.
"In the context of the current crisis, France is organizing a ministerial-level conference in Paris on October 24 to respond to the urgent needs of the Lebanese population and determine ways to support Lebanese institutions, including the Lebanese armed forces," said the Permanent Representative.
Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting, he noted that the conference will be attended by Lebanon's partner countries, the UN, the European Union, international and regional organizations, and representatives of civil society.
De Riviere also noted that there are 700 French military personnel in the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), and France is concerned about Israeli shelling of UNIFIL positions.
Paris calls for an immediate ceasefire, which "should contribute to a political resolution of the situation."
As a result of Israeli shelling of a watchtower at the UNIFIL base near the village of Ras Naqoura, two UN peacekeepers were injured.
Additionally, Israeli military shelled the UNIFIL office in southern Lebanon and a shelter where the peacekeepers were located.
UNIFIL stated that Israel has repeatedly struck the forces' headquarters and adjacent facilities.
