Generator or Battery: Expert Popenko Explained How Ukrainians Can Stay Warm in Winter.

Energy expert Oleg Popenko spoke about the preparation for the heating season in apartment buildings, reports the TV channel "Grad".
According to the specialist, preparing for winter in the context of an energy crisis caused by the war requires special attention both from management companies and from owners of apartment buildings. The main task is to ensure uninterrupted supply of heat, water, and sewage services during possible long-term power outages.
Popenko noted that for five-story buildings, the situation is simpler, as the supply of water and heat is ensured by network pressure. However, in high-rise buildings equipped with pumps for water and heating supply, the situation is more complicated.
"Pumping equipment depends on electricity supply, so during long-term outages it should be powered by alternative sources," the expert explained. He proposed two options to solve the problem: installing generators or battery packs.
Popenko also reminded about the existence of state and local support programs for HOAs, which can help in financing such projects. "There is a support program, an interest compensation program, the "Green House" program, and programs from state banks," he listed.
The expert emphasized the importance of joint efforts by residents to solve energy supply problems. He advised taking the necessary steps now to ensure comfortable living conditions in winter, using all available opportunities, including state programs in the housing and utilities sector.
