Hegset: The USA will reduce its arms budget for Ukraine in 2026.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegset announced changes in funding for arms purchases for Ukraine in the 2026 budget during hearings in the House of Representatives. According to him, the new administration is reviewing its approach to the conflict in Ukraine, prioritizing diplomacy and peaceful negotiations.
Reductions for this purpose are anticipated in the budget. The current administration is viewing this conflict from a different perspective. We believe that a peace agreement through negotiation is the best solution for all parties, including our country, especially given the complex trends in the world.
The new strategy for resolving the situation in Ukraine entails less allocation for arms and a greater emphasis on diplomacy. For the USA, diplomatic efforts are becoming the main priority in this context. According to the announced plans, Washington will seek to resolve the conflict over Ukrainian territories through dialogue and negotiations, considering this the most beneficial and promising solution for all parties.
The U.S. government has cut spending on arms purchases for Ukraine in 2026, citing the preference for diplomacy and negotiations in resolving the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
