Investors Named 5 Reasons for the Failure of Green Auctions in Ukraine in 2024.

The chairman of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association, Andriy Konechenkov, claims that the state needs to correct 5 mistakes that hindered the conduct of green auctions in 2024. This is necessary to attract investments in the construction of new renewable energy stations next year.
Konechenkov notes that the lack of trust in the government is the reason why both external and internal investors are lacking. Despite this, Ukraine plans to continue the auction next year for wind energy, solar energy, and alternative sources of green energy.
Konechenkov tends to believe that the problems faced by investors in the energy sector can be solved. He first points out the low quotas for auction participants and the restrictions on investor participation. He also highlights the conflict of interest between Ukrenergo and the state enterprise 'Guaranteed Buyer'. Other issues include the imperfection of the market premium mechanism for green electricity producers and difficulties with compensating non-market tariffs for the population.
Konechenkov emphasizes that until the government resolves these issues, Ukraine will struggle to secure the necessary investments.
The debt of NEC 'Ukrenergo' to the state enterprise 'Guaranteed Buyer' has exceeded 30 billion hryvnias. Experts and investors urge the state not to allow further debt accumulation.
