Canada continues the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel for three more years
Canada has decided to extend the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) for three years. This authorization allows Ukrainians to obtain work and residence permits in Canada. According to Canada's Minister of Immigration, Marc Miller, the country continues to support Ukrainians and their relatives by providing shelter and safety while the war continues.
That is why the goal of this extension is to provide protection, recognizing the long-term goal of many, which is to return home when it is safe and proper peace prevails.
According to reports from Ukrinform, Ukrainians who arrived in Canada under the CUAET program by March 31, 2024, will have the opportunity to apply for a three-year extension of their work and residence permits until March 31, 2026.
The CUAET program was announced in early March 2022, and now the validity of most issued permits will be extended until the end of March 2026.
