Crypto Entrepreneur Eats Banana Worth $6.2 Million from Famous Art Object.

Cryptocurrency entrepreneur Justin Sun fulfilled his promise to eat a banana from the art object 'Comedian' worth $6.2 million. This information was reported by news.com.au.
Justin Sun won the auction at Sotheby's and purchased the banana that was taped to the wall, part of Maurizio Cattelan's 2019 art installation 'Comedian'.
During a press conference in Hong Kong, Justin Sun ate the banana and took the opportunity to compare artworks with cryptocurrency.
It is worth noting that the banana, which is regularly replaced before exhibitions, has been previously eaten by others, but no one has paid several million dollars for this fruit, as Justin Sun did in 2024.
«It's way better than other bananas,» said Justin Sun.
The entrepreneur also compared this art object to abstract works that are similar to it and to NFTs.
The banana Justin Sun bought from a street vendor for 35 cents was sold at Sotheby's for $6.2 million. The fruit seller was shocked when he found out a few days later.
The art object 'Comedian' belongs to Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan. Its initial value was estimated at $1 to $1.5 million, but Justin Sun purchased it for $6.2 million.
Auction Successes
Earlier at the Henry Aldridge and Son auction, a clock from the captain of the ship 'Carpathia', Arthur Rostron, who came to the aid of the 'Titanic', was sold. This accessory was valued at $2 million. The clock was gifted by survivors, and it had the inscription: 'Presented to Captain Rostron with heartfelt thanks and appreciation.'
