Nearly 80% of Americans Expect Price Increases Due to Trump's Tariffs.

A survey by Economist/YouGov found that 76% of Americans believe that the new tariffs imposed by President Trump will lead to higher prices for the goods they buy. Specifically, 44% expect a significant increase in prices, 31% anticipate a slight rise, while only 7% think that tariffs will lead to lower prices.
The majority of Americans (54%) do not support Trump's actions in foreign trade, while only 38% agree with his policy. Most (48%) believe that tariffs harm the economy and consumers and do not provide any real long-term benefits, while 38% think that tariffs could cause short-term difficulties but lead to long-term economic growth.
Expectations of rising prices are influencing Americans' buying behavior, with 22% indicating they plan to purchase goods now, but 28% will delay their purchasing decision.
It is also noted that most Americans (65%) are concerned about the state of the stock market, with 42% having money invested in it. Most (34%) rate the current state of the market as poor, while 21% consider it good or excellent, and 28% believe it is fair. Two-thirds of Americans (67%) think that Trump is responsible for the state of the stock market.
Recall that on April 2, Trump announced the implementation of tariffs on most imported goods in the US. However, already on April 9, the president announced a pause in new tariffs. Nevertheless, restrictions on China have increased.
Trump also stated that his decision to change tariff policy was made without consultation with lawyers and was made from the heart.
At the same Time, China expressed readiness for negotiations with the US but set a number of demands on Trump's administration.
Previously, China decided to suspend the export of certain rare earth metals and magnets, which could negatively impact the global automotive, semiconductor, and aerospace industries.
In addition, Chinese diplomats have been tasked with conducting a campaign against US trade policy.
