Almost two years missing in action. Let's remember Mykhailo Hurskyi.

Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of all whose lives were taken by the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today, we remember Mykhailo Hurskyi. 

In the Hoshchanskyi community in Rivne region, they laid to rest the defender of Ukraine Mykhailo Hurskyi, who had been considered missing in action in Kherson region since September 13, 2022. This was reported by the Hoshchanska village council. 

Mykhailo was born on November 1, 1998, in the village of Horbiv, in the family of Mykola and Natalia Hurskyi. He grew up with a younger sister, Eva, and a brother, Borys, who unfortunately tragically died. He studied at Drozdivska school and later continued his education at Tuchynska school. In 2018, Mykhailo was drafted for mandatory military service. After returning, he worked at a sausage workshop in the village of Tuchyn.

In April 2022, Mykhailo was mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Without hesitation, he took up the defense of his homeland, serving as a sniper in a motorized infantry unit.

Since September 13, 2022, Mykhailo Hurskyi was considered missing in action in the Kherson region.

The hero's road home was long and complicated… After two years, the warrior's body returned to his native land to find his final resting place here.

They buried the defender in the cemetery of the village of Horbiv with full military honors, under the shots of the honor guard and the National Anthem of Ukraine. 

Young, full of strength and dreams, he never had the chance to start his own family. The symbol of this unfulfilled dream was a wedding loaf shared by the residents of the Hoshchanska community, relatives, and friends at the cemetery during the farewell to the hero.

We remember those killed by Russian invaders, light candles of memory, and bow our heads in mourning during the nationwide moment of silence, honoring the bright memory of the citizens of Ukraine who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the state: all the military, civilians, and children, all who died in the fight against the Russian occupiers and as a result of the attack of hostile troops on Ukrainian cities and villages.
