I'm ashamed and hurt. Makarov spoke about his condition after the assassination attempt.

Yuriy Makarov apologized for the concern to all those who were affected by his involvement in the events
Ukrainian journalist and executive producer of 'Suspilne' Yuriy Makarov, who was attempted to be killed, published an official statement. In it, he apologized to everyone he 'caused anxiety and pain to in connection with him in recent weeks.' This was reported by 'Glavcom' citing the statement of the media figure.
'I am ashamed and hurt that I found myself in the spotlight in a way that, to put it mildly, did not reflect the essence of the circumstances. The last years and months have been a difficult period for me with many challenges and experiences. It made me question my own abilities and the value of my contribution in many respects. At a critical moment, my family, friends, and colleagues were there to provide me with the necessary support and assistance,' he said.
According to the journalist, the support he received gave him a sense of privilege that he would like to convert into public attention to the issue of mental health.
Moreover, the journalist thanked the law enforcement officers and doctors who were involved in his treatment and the search for the criminal.
Another step towards solving the attack on Makarov
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that one of the versions of the attack on the journalist and executive producer of 'Public Broadcasting' Yuriy Makarov could be his professional activities in covering Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Later, Makarov gave his first comments from the hospital regarding the knife attack. The incident occurred in the Solomyansky district, and it is currently unknown how the attacker gained access to the residential complex. Law enforcement managed to seize the weapon and other physical evidence. The attacker has not been found yet.
We face an important issue of mental health and supporting those who need help. Society must be attentive and support those who are struggling with challenges regarding their health and mental well-being.
