Ukrainian handball player died in the war with Russian occupiers
The Handball Federation of Ukraine reported that as a result of hostilities near Donetsk on September 27, 2024, Roman Zayets, a Ukrainian handball player, died. He was a graduate of the Lviv State University of Physical Culture named after Ivan Bobersky, where he studied at the Department of Sports and Recreational Games with a specialization in handball.
Roman Zayets was a winner of the Lviv Region Universiades, a medalist of the Ukrainian Universiade in 2015 and 2017. He also played for the team "SKA-Lviv", which is the champion of Ukraine. Also killed on the front was Roman Holovatyuk, who was a medalist of the World Games and an honored master of sports of Ukraine. A master of sports in powerlifting, the champion of Ukraine and Europe, Andriy Mazanovych, also died in the war.
