The National Bank of Ukraine has begun the process of withdrawing hryvnia banknotes that were printed between 2003 and 2007. Instead of these banknotes, newer banknotes issued from 2014 will be used.
Citizens can still use old banknotes for payments, but banks will not issue them and will gradually withdraw them from circulation.
This replacement is being carried out to improve the quality of cash in circulation. After the old banknotes are replaced, the hryvnia will contain only new sample banknotes, making the currency more quality and reliable.
Recall that the Ministry of Finance called the largest source of financing for the state budget in November.
