One of the most important tasks of parents is to raise and provide children with everything necessary according to their needs. However, not all parents fulfill these obligations, which can have negative consequences for the child itself and for society as a whole.

What Are Parents' Responsibilities
According to Article 150 of the Family Code of Ukraine, parents must raise their child in the spirit of respect for the rights and freedoms of others, protect their health and promote their physical, spiritual, and moral development.
Therefore, if parents (guardians, caretakers) do not provide the necessary conditions for the lives of small children, they may be held administratively responsible.
What Penalties Are Foreseen
According to Article 184 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses (KUPAP), a fine of between 850 and 1,700 hryvnias may be imposed for the failure of parents or persons replacing them to fulfill their obligations regarding the upbringing of children, and in the case of repeated violations - from 1,700 to 5,100 hryvnias.
Such violations include:
- insufficient fulfillment of duties regarding the upbringing, education, and care of children;
- leading children to a state of neglect or homelessness;
- failure to control the behavior of minors.
In some cases, negligent performance of parental duties may be considered a crime.
Parents' rights and duties are not only about love and care but also about upbringing, education, and adherence to the law. In case of violation of these duties, administrative penalties may be imposed on parents, and in some cases - even criminal responsibility.Read also
