Trump's tariff threats prompted a surge in U.S. marine imports.

U.S. companies ramp up orders ahead of Trump's inauguration
Ahead of Donald Trump's inauguration, U.S. companies are actively increasing their order volumes.
For example, Walmart, which is the largest user of container shipping, has been increasing its order volume weekly since the third week of September. This information was provided by the container tracking software manufacturer Vizion.
Columbia Sportswear has also been observed to continually increase its order volumes weekly since the U.S. presidential elections on November 5.
According to Descartes Systems Group, container imports into the U.S. increased by 12.8% in November compared to the previous year.
Chinese imports, which are subject to Biden's new tariffs, saw an even larger increase of 13.3% compared to the previous month.
Shippers expect import levels to rise until the first quarter of 2025, trying to avoid any new tariffs.
