The first champion of the world among juniors in athletics in independent Ukraine has passed away.


The prominent Ukrainian athlete Hennadiy Horbenko has passed away
Ukrainian athlete Hennadiy Horbenko passed away at the age of 50. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing the press service of the Ukrainian Athletics Federation.
Horbenko became the first world champion among juniors in athletics in Ukraine.
He also participated in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, where he reached the finals.
A tribute and farewell to Horbenko will take place on March 31 at 12:00 at the address: Pidgorodne (Dnipropetrovsk region), Central Street, 43, St. John the Theologian Temple.

The Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics Akinori Nakayama has passed away
The artistic gymnastics champion Akinori Nakayama passed away on March 9 at the age of 83.
He won two more gold medals at the Olympic Games in 1968 and 1972.
Nakayama also became a member of the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2005.
European football champion Doris Fitschen has passed away
The European football champion Doris Fitschen passed away at the age of 57.
She played 144 matches for the German national team and became a four-Time European champion.
Fitschen also won a bronze medal at the 2000 Olympic Games.
Fitschen also suffered from a serious illness.
