Ammunition production for Kalashnikovs in Venezuela
Venezuela has started producing ammunition for 7.62 mm Kalashnikov assault rifles. It is claimed that the factory can produce up to 70 million rounds per year. Oleg Yevtushenko, the executive director of the state corporation 'Rostec', reported that various types of ammunition will be manufactured, including those with a steel core and tracer bullets.
The launch of ammunition production in Venezuela was made possible by an agreement signed between the presidents of Russia and Venezuela back in 2006.
Despite challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, sanctions, and corruption scandals, this step indicates the development of technological cooperation. The project also reaffirms Russia's collaboration with authoritarian regimes, despite international pressure due to the conflict in Ukraine.
