Russia interferes in the elections in Romania
According to the EU Today portal, Russia is actively trying to influence the electoral process in Romania by supporting political forces and candidates for the presidency. This could have consequences for the presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for this year.
Russia uses various organizations and structures involved in manipulation during the election campaign
The Romanian intelligence closely monitors Russia's activities on its territory, particularly individuals and organizations that undermine the country's alliance with the European Union and NATO. In addition, an analysis is being conducted on the possible influence of China and North Korea on the elections in Romania.
The Romanian Parliament has launched an investigation into the possibility of cyberattacks from foreign states or entities, as well as the spread of disinformation. In addition, the police have initiated a criminal investigation into the activities of a 'troll network' that promotes selected candidates and political programs.
The first round of presidential elections will take place on November 24, and the second round on December 8. Parliamentary elections will be held between the two rounds.
