Scandal involving a 'Russian agent' — NABU reacted.

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine reacted to the statements of the Security Service of Ukraine. They concern the possible cooperation of one of the Bureau’s employees with a representative of the Russian special services.
This was reported by NABU on Monday, July 21.
Details of the Case
It became known that in August 2023, the Security Service provided NABU with information about potential risks associated with one of the NABU employees. According to the special service, during this person’s service in the Ministry of Internal Affairs from 2012 to 2015, that is, even before starting to work at NABU, he allegedly forwarded emails about Ukrainian citizens to one of the employees of the State Guard Department (GUD). This GUD representative, according to the Security Service, worked in the Security Service until 2012 and headed the president's security service unit from 2012 to 2014. After the annexation of Crimea, he switched to the side of the aggressor country and has been serving in the Federal Protection Service of Russia since 2020.
Immediately after receiving this information, NABU began its own investigation. Additional joint verification was conducted with the participation of employees from both agencies. The main goal was to uncover the truth, regardless of the position or length of service of the employee.
No evidence or testimony was found during the joint review indicating that the NABU employee was aware of the connections of the former GUD employee with the Russian special services. This fact was confirmed by the representative of the Security Service during personal meetings.
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine reacted to the report from the Security Service of Ukraine regarding the possible cooperation of one of the Bureau’s employees with Russian special services. After the review was conducted, no evidence was found that the NABU employee had ties to the Russian agent, as claimed by the Security Service. A thorough investigation dispelled all doubts, and nothing compromising was uncovered.
