Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stated that his country will not support any European Union sanctions against Russia if they harm Slovakia's national interests. At the same Time, Fico emphasized that he remains a constructive participant in the EU.

The Prime Minister called the resolution supported by the parliament a significant political tool. 'If the sanctions harm us, I will vote against them,' stressed Robert Fico. At the same time, he refused to support measures to halt the import of Russian fuel for Slovak nuclear power plants.

In his statement, the Prime Minister of Slovakia expressed his disagreement with the EU sanctions against Russia that may harm Slovakia, but confirmed his willingness to cooperate with the European Union. He also reserved the right to position his country against sanctions that affect the energy sector. Robert Fico emphasized the importance of protecting national interests in the context of pan-European relations.
