Mask's social network announced a crackdown on parody accounts.

The social network X of billionaire Elon Musk is changing the rules for accounts that impersonate other users. The introduction of new rules is scheduled for April 10. This was reported by 'Glavkom', referring to the company.

Parody accounts will be required to include the words 'fake' or 'parody' in their account names. This change will take effect from April 10.

'We are releasing an update to improve the transparency of parody, commentary, and fan accounts on our platform. Starting April 10, all accounts will need to include keywords that reflect their parody nature and avoid using identical avatars to those they are impersonating.'

Additionally, owners of parody accounts must use images that do not belong to the people they are imitating.

The social network hints that several users have complained about confusion caused by parody accounts, particularly those impersonating Elon Musk.

A recent post from one of the parody accounts of Elon Musk, which has over a million followers, suggested users 'like and comment' for a chance to win a Tesla. The post received 428 thousand likes and over 200 thousand comments.

The social network itself urges users affected by these changes to update their profiles by April 10.

It should be noted that European Union regulators are preparing hefty fines against Musk's social network for violations of the law against illegal content and misinformation. The possible amount of the fine is over 1 billion dollars.
