The United States has expressed support for a possible extension of the ceasefire regime in Ukraine after Easter. This was reported by 'Glavcom' citing Reuters.

The U.S. State Department stated that it would welcome an extension after Sunday of the one-day Easter ceasefire announced by President Vladimir Putin, even though the Kremlin had previously stated that there was no order for an extension.

The State Department spokesperson noted that they had seen President Putin's announcement of a temporary ceasefire in connection with Easter. He emphasized that the U.S. remains committed to achieving a comprehensive and complete ceasefire in Ukraine.

«As we assess their seriousness in this matter, we would welcome its continuation after Sunday,» he emphasized.

As is known, Russian President Vladimir Putin had not issued an order to extend the 'Easter truce', which was supposed to stop hostilities until 00:00 on April 21.

Earlier, the 13th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine 'Charter' reported that Russian troops were using the 'Easter truce' announced by President Vladimir Putin to build up forces in the Kharkiv direction.

It should be noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin had at least three reasons to announce the so-called 'Easter truce', which, however, the Russian occupiers do not adhere to.
