Fines like in Europe: Ukrainian drivers will have to consider new speed rules.

Changes in the law on speeding fines
A bill No. 13314 has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada, aimed at changing the mechanism of administrative responsibility for speeding in Ukraine.
The initiative calls for the abolition of the 'non-fined threshold' of +20 km/h and the introduction of a proportional system of fines, depending on the degree of danger of the offense.
The National Police of Ukraine reported that in 2024 speeding was the cause of 55% of all road deaths and almost 40% of injuries.
In comparison, the article notes that fines for other violations, such as stopping in lanes for public transport or parking violations, may be higher than for speeding.
- over 10 km/h – 340 UAH;
- over 20 km/h – 680 UAH;
- over 30 km/h – 1360 UAH;
- over 40 km/h – 1700 UAH;
- over 60 km/h – 2720 UAH;
- over 80 km/h – 3400 UAH.
Such changes in the law are hoped to help reduce the number of road accidents and increase safety on the roads, reflecting the experience of European countries where the proportional principle of fines for speeding is already successfully in place.
