One candidate will participate in the elections for the president of the World Anti-Doping Agency.

The only candidate for the president of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is Witold Banka. The WADA vice president Yan Yan has also submitted her application for participation in the elections.

According to the announced information, candidates were required to submit their applications by January 31 of this year. If Banka and Yan are re-elected, their terms will last until December 31, 2028.

The voting will take place on May 29 during a virtual meeting of the board of directors.

It is worth noting that Banka has been leading WADA since 2020.

According to the Associated Press agency, Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva has approached the Federal Court of Switzerland requesting to review her case. The athlete's lawyers claim that WADA concealed and altered evidence that could prove her innocence in the doping case.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has confirmed that Valieva has appealed to the Federal Court of Switzerland, but provided no further comments regarding the case.

Valieva was disqualified for 4 years for violating anti-doping regulations, but her appeal was rejected. The disqualification will take effect from December 25, 2021, and results obtained after this date will be annulled.

As a result, Valieva was stripped of gold medals at the 2022 Olympic Games and her victory at the 2022 European Championship.
