In Ukraine, the rules for mopeds and motorcycles have changed: it will help reduce traffic jams on the roads.


The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has changed the traffic rules regarding motorcycle and moped drivers. Now these vehicles are allowed to use lanes for public transport.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reports on the changes made to point 2.16 of the traffic rules, which consolidates the right of motorcyclists and moped riders to move in the lane for route vehicles. It is important to note that this change does not apply to motorcycles with trailers, motorized wheelchairs, and three-wheeled vehicles.
The Patrol Police Department proposed this initiative in conjunction with the Ministry of Internal Affairs to increase the safety of motorcyclists, moped riders, and other road users in heavy traffic, comments Oleksiy Biloshytskyi, the first deputy head of the Patrol Police Department.

According to Biloshytskyi, this decision will positively impact road safety and help reduce congestion in large cities of Ukraine. Furthermore, this change brings Ukrainian legislation closer to European standards and practices.
It is also important to note the strengthened restrictions for cars, buses, and motorcycles.
