Ukraine changed the rules for checking documents when crossing the border.

The Government of Ukraine has made important changes to the procedure for checking persons at the state border. According to the new resolution, border service employees will receive expanded access to information about citizens from various electronic registries and databases. This was announced by the permanent representative of the government, Taras Melnychuk.
The changes provide that border guards will be able to obtain the necessary information through a special electronic order. This will allow for more thorough and effective document checks when crossing the border. It is important to note that access can be granted even to restricted information, which significantly expands the capabilities of border guards in identifying offenders and threats to national security.
However, along with the expansion of powers, the resolution also includes a mechanism of responsibility. The initiator of the verification order is fully responsible for the accuracy of the information entered into the registries regarding each citizen. This should ensure a balance between the effectiveness of the checks and the protection of citizens' rights.
These changes are part of the government's systematic work to improve border control. The main goals are to increase the efficiency of border checkpoints and to prevent illegal border crossings into Ukraine.
Recall, earlier the National Bank forecasted how many Ukrainians will leave the country in the next two years.
