Missing in action during a combat clash in Donetsk. Let's remember Serhiy Koshka.

Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of all those whose lives were taken by the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today we remember Serhiy Koshka.
On February 26, 2024, while performing a combat mission, Serhiy Koshka went missing. On April 10, 2025, a decree from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine recognized Serhiy Koshka as deceased. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing the Kostiopol City Council.
Serhiy Koshka was born on April 24, 1974. He studied at Kostiopol School No. 2 and graduated from Kostiopol Vocational Technical School (now the Construction and Technology College). For some Time, he worked as a private entrepreneur, producing furniture and selling plywood, then began to work abroad.
With the start of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Serhiy immediately reported to the military enlistment office and stated that he wanted to serve. He was mobilized in January 2023. Initially, he was in a training center, and in the summer of 2023, he went for the first time near Bakhmut as a driver and locksmith in the maintenance workshop of a military unit. The defender suffered minor shrapnel wounds and a severe concussion. While providing medical aid, an enemy attack occurred, and the man suffered another concussion.
Due to his health condition, Serhiy Koshka was transferred to a rear unit where he was engaged in repairs and construction at the training ground. However, when he learned that his comrades, with whom he had been near Bakhmut, were returning to Donetsk, he decided to go with them.
On February 1, 2024, my father went to the Donetsk region. On February 23, his comrades last saw him at the positions. On February 27, we received news that the day before, as a result of a combat clash near the village of Ivanivske in Donetsk, soldier Serhiy Koshka went missing. One of his comrades, who traveled there with him, also went missing. I tried to find any information about my dad. I tracked down other comrades of his, and they told me that there had been a direct hit in the dugout where my father was. What happened next – we did not know. I wanted to believe that he would be found. And then we received a notification of a complete match from the DNA examination in Dnipro, – said Serhiy Koshka's daughter, Kateryna.
On April 10, 2025, by decree of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, soldier Serhiy Koshka was declared dead.
The fallen hero was memorialized at St. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Kostiopol. At Taras Shevchenko Square, his relatives, friends, comrades, representatives of the city authorities, and clergy said their farewells. The soldier was buried on April 15, 2025, at the 'Nove' cemetery in Kostiopol.
Serhiy Koshka is survived by his mother, daughter, brother, and four sisters.
'Glavkom' joins in the moment of silence. We honor the memory of all Ukrainians who died in the struggle for the Motherland. We remember those killed at the hands of Russian invaders, light candles of remembrance, and bow our heads in mourning during the nationwide moment of silence, honoring the bright memory of citizens of Ukraine who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the state: all the military, civilians, and children, all who died in the struggle against the Russian occupiers and as a result of the attack of enemy troops on Ukrainian cities and villages.
