The Destroyed Cities of Ukraine – How the Cities Looked Before and After the War.

Ukraine has faced horrific consequences of the war that changed the face of many cities. The hostile aggression led to the complete destruction and obliteration of many settlements. Among the most affected cities, Mariupol, Severodonetsk, Lysychansk, Bakhmut, Izyum, Kupiansk, Pokrovsk, Rubizhne, and Avdiivka can be highlighted.

In these cities, the destroyers of war have destroyed buildings, roads, and communication infrastructure. The loss of numerous cultural centers, coal mines, factories, and other industrial facilities has paralyzed the economy of these regions. The resilience and will of Ukrainians, who continue to fight for their cities, give hope for restoration and the return of life to these devastated settlements.

An example of one of such cities is Mariupol. Before the war, it was an industrial and port center of Ukraine, attracting people with its metallurgical enterprises and the beautiful coast of the Sea of Azov. However, after the invasion began, the city has been almost completely destroyed, and the destroyers of war have obliterated houses, shopping centers, and cultural monuments. Although the restoration of Mariupol will be a lengthy process, the city will be reborn thanks to the perseverance and dreams of its residents.

A similar situation has occurred in other cities like Severodonetsk, Lysychansk, Bakhmut, Izyum, Kupiansk, Pokrovsk, Rubizhne, and Avdiivka. As a result of hostilities and shelling, these settlements have turned into ruined ruins. People have been forced to leave their homes, and those who remained experienced a significant humanitarian catastrophe.

However, despite the hardships, Ukrainians do not lose hope and continue to fight for their cities. Defending their land from the occupiers, they demonstrate bravery and undying strength. The restoration of destroyed cities requires great efforts, financial support, and international cooperation. But most importantly, it is the will of the people that will enable life to return to these devastated settlements of Ukraine.
