The Netherlands plans to allocate 3.5 billion euros to Ukraine in 2026.
The Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Dick Schoof, confirmed the country's intention to continue providing assistance to Ukraine. During parliamentary debates, he announced the allocation of approximately 3.5 billion euros in aid in 2026. According to Schoof, this is a continuation of the previous line. According to the coalition agreement, the Netherlands will continue to support Ukraine. Until now, the country has already provided about 5.8 billion euros in assistance.
However, within the coalition, there are discrepancies regarding the allocation of 3.5 billion euros. The leader of the far-right Freedom Party (PVV), Geert Wilders, stated that the largest government party will only support this initiative if food and utility prices are reduced.
Prime Minister Schoof also emphasized the importance of the American military presence for maintaining peace in Europe and the need to establish relations with President Trump's administration. He stated that without the US, it is impossible to achieve this goal, at least at this moment.
