Last week, during negotiations, Iran stated that it was ready to accept certain limitations on uranium enrichment but required reliable guarantees from the United States. This statement was made by a senior Iranian official. According to Reuters, the second round of negotiations between Iran and the U.S. will take place on Saturday in Rome. The first round, held in Oman, was positively assessed by both parties.

President Donald Trump withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers in 2018 and reinstated strict sanctions against Iran. In the following years, Iran gradually violated the restrictions stipulated in the 2015 agreement, complicating the development of nuclear weapons. Former U.S. President Joe Biden attempted to revive the agreement but unsuccessfully.

During the negotiations in Oman, Iran understood that Washington was not demanding a complete cessation of nuclear activities from it. This could serve as a basis for fair negotiations.

Priority conditions of Iran, set by the country's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, include maintaining centrifuges for uranium enrichment, keeping enrichment at the same level as in 2015, and refusing to discuss its missile program.

Iran stated that a possible agreement with the U.S. could be reached if they were serious and did not impose unrealistic demands. American negotiators are demanding the cessation and elimination of Iran's nuclear enrichment to reach an agreement.

Iran is ready to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency to confirm the peaceful nature of its nuclear program. If guarantees from the U.S. are received, Iran expects the lifting of sanctions against its oil and financial sectors.
